Cockatoo Island, Convict Workshops

Cockatoo Island Sydney NSW

The World Heritage listed Convict Workshops located in the middle of the beautiful Sydney Harbour on the pristine Cockatoo Island, encapsulate 1800’s architecture with the buildings history dated back to the 1840’s during the Cockatoo Islands colourful convict past.

The Cockatoo Island, Convict Workshops is a great place for gala dinners, cocktail functions, exhibitions, music performances and launches, with the three different rooms each featuring convict slab sandstone walls, raw concrete floors, beautiful large arched windows and high ceilings. Additionally the Convict Workshops display large pieces of World War I and II era machinery fixed into the floor of two of the buildings creating an unmatchable atmosphere and representation of Australian culture.

The buildings make up part of the island’s industrial precinct, and are available for use by guests from 7am to 11pm. Each Convict Workshop building has its own individual capacity making the building perfect for various styles and sizes of events, with the option to use multiple buildings to host a function also available upon request.
