Award presented at the Sydney Metropolitan Savour AustraliaTM Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence.
Premium Sydney catering company, Forte Catering and Events, has been awarded best Caterer at an Event at the 2010 Savour AustraliaTM Restaurant & Catering Awards For Excellence, held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Sydney last night. Forte Catering & Events, a finalist in the same category in 2009, emerged victorious ahead of four of Sydney’s top caterers, accepting the award for best caterer at an event under 500 people in the Sydney Metropolitan area.
Featuring more than 500 trained judges and 2500 entrants, The Awards for Excellence are designed to objectively recognise and promote best practice in the hospitality industry. Forte Catering & Events was recognised specifically for its work in catering a sit-down luncheon, held in conjunction with Social Diary, Australia’s premier networking website and calendar for the Public Relations industry. Key figures from the Sydney PR industry were invited to meet over lunch and network, while sampling Forte’s exciting new organic menu, created by Executive Chef Anthony Sullivan.
With fresh, organic ingredients sourced from the finest Australian providores, Forte’s event menu featured an entrée of Western Australian marron with fennel puree, golden beetroots and asparagus, served with warm La Tartine organic sourdough and butter. Mains saw guests enjoy a choice of steamed coral trout fillet with shimeji mushrooms, pencil leeks and white truffle nage or organic beef cheeks braised in Krinklewood Biodynamic Shiraz with Jerusalem artichokes and borlotti beans, while dessert was an organic dacquoise layered with Corella pears, toffee, poached quince and fromage blanc.
To add to the organic flavour of the lunch, each course was complemented with wine matchings from Krinklewood Biodynamic Wines, Millton organic wines in New Zealand (the country’s oldest organic wine producer) and Katz organic wines from Alsace in France.
“Our core business is providing catering and event services for functions and events, so to take out this award is extremely satisfying for our entire team.” Said Ross Mitchell, Director of Forte Catering & Events. “While we cater for so many events of all sizes throughout the year, we went out on a limb choosing to be judged for our new, entirely organic menu and we are delighted to have been recognised among so many of our peers in the industry.” He said.
Forte Catering & Events will now go on to be judged for the National Awards For Excellence, the winners of which will be announced on October 25th, 2010.
